All of my information comes from the book….The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Heisey Glass: 1925-1938<\/em> by Neila Bredehoft (published 1986) . \u00a0Ms. Bredehoft \u00a0says that Heisey\"\"<\/a> began producing baskets circa 1912 and first called them ‘basket vases’ (now simply called ‘baskets’).<\/p>\n

Most were designed to hold flowers although a few were fruit containers.<\/p>\n

The production of baskets appears to have ceased in 1933.<\/p>\n

This particular eight inch basket is called “Plain Hexagon” by researchers and has the Number 462 as a reference. \u00a0I assume this is the blank or shape number. \u00a0It was used for only a few Heisey cuttings. I don’t know if this cut has a name. \u00a0It has butterflies, flowers and ferns or grasses.<\/p>\n

It is pretty, although I really only picked it up at a recent auction because I recognized the Heisey mark. \u00a0When I get organized, it goes up on the seller’s block!<\/p>\n
