Smith Black Amethyst Trophy Vase"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to see one of these vases in the &#8216;flesh&#8217; ever since I&#8217;d seen a photo. So I kept my eye out for one at a decent price. \u00a0We were at the Antique Mall in St. Jacob&#8217;s and I saw this one. \u00a0Saw several actually at widely varying prices!<\/p>\n<p>This vase stands about 7 inches high and has an obvious ruffled edge. \u00a0The dancing figures on the front are &#8220;Nymphs&#8221; I gather.<a href=\"https:\/\/grannysglasses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/023.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-1263\" title=\"023\" src=\"https:\/\/grannysglasses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/023-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/grannysglasses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/023-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/grannysglasses.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/023-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This piece was produced in the thirties, and I think that I have read that it was produced for a time in the fifties, although I&#8217;ve only seen that information referenced once.<\/p>\n<p>Supposedly the colour is black amethyst &#8211; you can see the dark purple colour in a strong light. \u00a0Not enough sunlight today to see it (I just brought it home yesterday). \u00a0Looks just black to me.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s kind of neat. \u00a0I&#8217;m looking forward to putting some bright flowers in it. \u00a0The dark colour will set them off nicely.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0;float:none;height:100px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/grannysglasses.com\/?p=1275\" send=\"true\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"true\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I wanted to see one of these vases in the &#8216;flesh&#8217; ever since I&#8217;d seen a photo.
