Still wandering around the southern U.S. \u00a0Today we stopped in a few little Kentucky \u00a0towns. \u00a0We’ve visited quite a few flea markets, consignment shops, antique stores and thrift shops. \u00a0It is interesting to see how items are priced relative to the locations\/states and relative to our own prices.<\/p>\n
For example….I find the Depression glass surprisingly expensive. \u00a0We’ve run into a great deal of Fenton glass, much more than I’ve ever seen at home. \u00a0hens on nests can be found more cheaply than at home, but not always. \u00a0I now own two more amber hens, a green one and a white one. \u00a0All less than $12. \u00a0One was $4 but has a wee chip.<\/p>\n
Anyway….I haven’t photographed any pieces, but will once we get settled back home. \u00a0Tonight we are in a town called Georgetown in Kentucky. \u00a0We had dinner at a great restaurant named Fava’s – everything is home made and fresh. \u00a0The catfish was superb! \u00a0They make a pie called Almond Joy (like the chocolate bar). \u00a0I still am having a sugar rush! \u00a0The main street boasts 2-3 antique stores so that will be the first order of business before we head out of state to Ohio.<\/p>\n
Vacationing is great, but tiring. \u00a0I have not found as many pieces that I wanted to buy as I thought I would. \u00a0Very few pieces of etched stemware. \u00a0Oh well. \u00a0Despite that (tee hee) it’s been a good trip.<\/p>\n
