\u00a0I have been very lackadaisical about updating my poor blog. \u00a0As the Beatles said, &#8220;Life is what happens to you when you&#8217;re busy looking the other way!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>I have not been acquiring at the rate that I used to. \u00a0In fact I am trying to downsize my collections and have been repacking boxes in the garage, giving away stuff and putting stuff aside for Christmas gifts. \u00a0Having said that&#8230;there are still a few treasures to show off.<\/p>\n<p>This particular covered dish is a case in point. \u00a0I bought it online. \u00a0It was advertised as a piece of Westmoreland glass. \u00a0I knew Westmoreland made a covered lovebirds dish, but I still wondered if this was accurate but didn&#8217;t have any reference materials to verify this.<\/p>\n<p>I bought it anyway and then ordered a copy of the book Westmoreland Glass: 1950-1984 volumes 1 &amp; 2 by Lorraine Kovar.<\/p>\n<p>As it runs out Westmoreland made this piece in many colours. \u00a0But&#8230;&#8230;there is a note in the book to say that it was also reproduced in the colour alexandrite. \u00a0It&#8217;s hard to see in the photo, but the dish is a pretty darkish pink or lilac, but it might be considered to be alexandrite.<\/p>\n<p>I posted a query on the <a href=\"http:\/\/chataboutdg.com\/\">Everyday and Elegant Glass Forum<\/a>, asking if this is alexandrite in anyone&#8217;s opinion. \u00a0I also asked who made Westmoreland Reproductions. \u00a0I had one respone that said that Dalzell\/Viking had some lovebirds on ebay as well, but I don&#8217;t see any now. \u00a0I may try a glass forum to which I belong on Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, I have a very pretty piece, that is Westmoreland in my mind and I have a neat, interesting book.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div id=\"wp_fb_like_button\" style=\"margin:5px 0;float:none;height:100px;\"><script src=\"http:\/\/connect.facebook.net\/en_US\/all.js#xfbml=1\"><\/script><fb:like href=\"https:\/\/grannysglasses.com\/?p=2877\" send=\"true\" layout=\"standard\" width=\"450\" show_faces=\"true\" font=\"arial\" action=\"like\" colorscheme=\"light\"><\/fb:like><\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Welcome back to myself!
