\"IMG_3421\"<\/a>For some reason I have, in the past, long longed for a celery vase.\u00a0 There is something about the old pressed pieces that is very attractive.<\/p>\n

Awhile back I picked up this vase, on one of our trips, with pretty detailing.\u00a0 I poked around looking for a pattern and came across this great site – Patternglass.com.<\/a>\u00a0 I didn’t see my piece, but took advantage of the offer to contact the store and ask for a pattern ID.\"IMG_3423\"<\/a><\/p>\n

The site owner very quickly provided an identification of the pattern – Sheaf & Diamonds by Higbee.\u00a0 The owner also indicated that there Higbee made a very similar pattern named Grand a\/k\/a Diamond Medallion.<\/p>\n

I had also posted the piece on the Everyday and Elegant Glass Forum<\/a>. \u00a0 One of the members indicated that there are several very similar patterns with diamond & fan motifs and suggested that I take a closer look and compare to ‘Diamond & Sunburst’ by Bryce, Walker & Co.<\/div>\n

I have one reference book – the Florences’ American Pattern Glass table sets text.\u00a0 There is a photo of the Diamond Medallion pattern, which is not this piece, but no photos of the other two patterns.\u00a0 I also have the book – Bryce, Higbee and J.B. Higbee Glass by Lola and Wayne Higby.\u00a0 There are some examples of items in the Sheaf & Diamonds pattern.\u00a0 They do not match my piece.<\/div>\n

Online there are quite a number of pieces that DO<\/strong> look like the pattern on my vase and ARE<\/strong> identified as Diamond & Sunburst by Bryce.\u00a0 I think that the second opinion that I received was the accurate one.\u00a0 It is difficult to pick up the details of the pattern through a photo.\u00a0 In fact there is a sample of this pattern on Patternglass.com <\/a>that says the pattern was produced in the 1870s by Bryce and Walker and was pattern #77.<\/div>\n

I am grateful to both women for their opinions and for their efforts to point me in the right direction.<\/div>\n
