I swear I will not buy any more servers until I sell or give away some. \u00a0Although they are gorgeous, and useful, they are hard to store because of the handles. \u00a0At least you can stack plates and ‘handle-free’ platters\/trays.<\/p>\n

However, the yellow paint makes this a very cheerful piece.<\/p>\n

\"Tiara<\/a>My new monograph – \u00a0A Guide to Identification of Glass Center Handle Servers<\/em><\/a>\u00a0by Inez J. Austin from the\u00a0The Museum of American Glass in West Virginia<\/a>\u00a0was my initial source for identifying the company that made this server. \u00a0Indiana – 607 I believe. The author described the decorations as being two fists and I could see this on my piece.<\/p>\n

I went to the Indiana Glass-Carnival Heaven<\/a> website to read up on this server. \u00a0This is what I found:<\/p>\n

“Indiana Glass pattern #607 was known as Double Fleur de Lis.\u00a0 This pattern was introduced in the early 1930s and made in crystal and etched crystal.<\/p>\n

Indiana Glass reissued the pattern in the 1980s.\u00a0 It was sold through Tiara and the pattern was then called Dutchess.\u00a0 The reissued pieces were not etched.”\"Tiara<\/a><\/p>\n

I initially thought that my piece was one of the reissues since it was not etched and had been handpainted. \u00a0But then I wondered. \u00a0In the 1980s, were these types of pieces still being handpainted? \u00a0I see a similar piece identified in the Museum of American Glass in West Virginia database<\/a>\u00a0with the earlier date, so I now believe that this was earlier twentieth century rather than later. \u00a0But of course I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong.<\/p>\n
