I likely should have included some other interesting information from the Bredehoft’s text:\u00a0 production date 1942-1957; colour in crystal, rare black plates in black; designer Horace King; introduced at a show in Pittsburgh; and, designed to compete with Imperial’s ‘Candlewick’ line.<\/p>\n

The candlesticks came in two and three light designs.\u00a0 This one is obviously the three light.\u00a0 The ‘Gordian knot’ or ‘Lariat’ is is pretty obvious with this piece.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I have this great book called Heisey Glass: 1896-1957 by Neila and Tom Bredehoft.\u00a0 The Bredehofts have given alot of interesting information about different Heisey lines.\u00a0 Regarding Lariat, they write:<\/p>\n

“Lariat is the original name, although Heisey first referred ti the pattern as Gordian Knot……..The inspiration for this pattern was supposedly from the twisting of a heavy gold watch chain.”\u00a0 (page 300).<\/p>\n

I can honestly say that I would have guessed that a gold chain inspired the ‘loops’.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n
