\"\"<\/a>I don’t often purchase souvenir items, but this was so cute.\u00a0 It is etched with the words.\u00a0 According to the etching it was made in Buffalo New York in honour of the 1901 Pan-American Expo.\u00a0 The other side has been etched with the name ‘Anna Bella’.<\/p>\n

I have no idea who produced the glass.<\/p>\n

“The Pan-American Exposition<\/b>\u00a0was a\u00a0World’s Fair<\/a>\u00a0held in\u00a0Buffalo, New York<\/a>, United States, from May 1 through November 2, 1901. The fair occupied 350 acres (0.55\u00a0sq\u00a0mi) of land on the western edge of what is now\u00a0Delaware Park<\/a>, extending from Delaware Avenue to Elmwood Avenue and northward to Great Arrow Avenue. It is remembered today primarily for being the location of the\u00a0assassination of United States President William McKinley<\/a>\u00a0at the\u00a0Temple of Music<\/a>\u00a0on September 6, 1901. The exposition was illuminated at night.\u00a0Thomas A. Edison, Inc.<\/a>\u00a0filmed it during the day and a\u00a0pan<\/a> of it at night.<\/p>\n

The event was organized by the Pan-American Exposition Company, formed in 1897.\u00a0Cayuga Island<\/a>\u00a0was initially chosen as the place to hold the Exposition because of the island’s proximity to\u00a0Niagara Falls<\/a>, which was a huge tourist attraction. When the\u00a0Spanish\u2013American War<\/a>\u00a0broke out in 1898, plans were put on hold. After the war, there was a heated competition between Buffalo and\u00a0Niagara Falls<\/a>\u00a0over the location. Buffalo won for two main reasons. First, Buffalo had a much larger population\u2014with roughly 350,000 people, it was the eighth-largest city in the United States. Second, Buffalo had better railroad connections\u2014the city was within a day’s journey by rail for over 40 million people. In July 1898,\u00a0Congress<\/a>\u00a0pledged $500,000 for the Exposition to be held at Buffalo. The “Pan American” theme was carried throughout the event with the slogan “commercial well being and good understanding among the American Republics.” The advent of the\u00a0alternating current<\/a>\u00a0power transmission system in the US allowed designers to light the Exposition in Buffalo using power generated 25 miles (40\u00a0km) away at\u00a0Niagara Falls<\/a>.”\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

This Fair was obviously significant in the history of Buffalo, New York.<\/p>\n
