I was out in Orono at a shop when I saw this powder jar. \u00a0I recalled seeing it (or so I thought ) in one of my books. \u00a0As it turns out, I was thinking about another style, called Carousel, by the same company. \u00a0This satin frosted green powder jar was made by Greensburg Glass Works (bought out by the L.E. Smith Company). \u00a0I’m thinking that it is a Depression piece. \u00a0You can still put powder, or anything else in it. \u00a0It’s a pretty pale satin, or frosted, pale green. \u00a0I’ve read that the clear pieces are harder to find. \u00a0I’ve seen this with the elephant’s trunk raised, and in a few different colours, online. \u00a0I don’t know if I will put anything in it. \u00a0Right now it’s gracing my pine blanket box in the living room. \u00a0In the last month I’ve acquired three powder jars. \u00a0I think that’s enough.<\/p>\n

When I bought it the salesman told me that it is Vaseline glass. \u00a0Vaseline glass, as defined by the Vaseline Collectors Club<\/a> is “Vaseline Glass is a particular color of yellow-green glass that is made by adding 2% Uranium Dioxide to the ingredients when the glass formula is made<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span>” \u00a0The presence of the uranium dioxide can be verified by putting your glass piece beneath a black light. \u00a0I haven’t done that yet.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
