I was staggered to find four of these stems locally in pristine condition. If you find needle etched pieces in this area, they are generally one offs, and of very simple etching. These are gorgeous pieces (do I always say that?) and the photos do not do them justice.
Pretty colour with a narrow optic. I don’t know if they are cordials, sherries or whatever, but they are small, standing 5 14 inches with a 2 1/4 inch opening.
I hope I can identify the etch some day!

My interest in these needle etches remains unabated and I don’t know why. The odds of ever identifying their provenance is slim. If you are lucky enough to find an etched stem on a unique stem/blank, then the task is easier, but still………..challenging.
This particular glass does have some unique features to the stem, although they are difficult to see in the photo. Where the stem and the bowl are connected, there is some ‘carving’ (not the correct word, I’m sure). May make it easier to track down the production company of the blank at least. I think it is safe to say that it was likely made prior to 1940.
I often wonder what on earth I am ever going to do with these single stems????? But I can’t bear to toss them. Maybe someone will start a museum of unknown needle-etched glasses and I can donate my entire collection.
