I came across this pretty bowl on our recent (August) trip to the US.  I only half recognized the etch but knew that I had seen it before.  Pretty octagonal footed bowl/dish – 4 3/4 inches tall.

I am guessing that this is the mayonnaise bowl.

Isn’t this pretty?  We went on a rural ramble yesterday – Oshawa, Whitby, Port Perry, Lindsay, Fenelon Falls – and stopped in a few places.  I actually came home with very little.  Perhaps I am becoming more discriminating, perhaps I am becoming wiser……..perhaps I have no space in the house or garage!

In any event, I had to have this set of four!  They are a pretty pink.  Made by Tiffin during the 1920s, the etch is called Lois.  They mustn’t be all that abundant as I don’t see many (or none at this moment) online for sale.

The etch is a glorious daisy or mum.  I wonder how the name Lois came to be?

I picked these up at a neat consignment store in Port Perry called Caviar and Cobwebs.  Check it out!

Tiffin Cherokee Rose Water Goblets

Floral, Roses

I’ve posted this pattern in a champagne glass.  I just have the one champagne.  I decided to buy 8 of the water goblets for resale some day so ordered these online.

The Cherokee Rose etch comes in at least two blanks.  I think this is the more common stem.

These pieces were made by Tiffin from 1941-1966.

They are quite pretty. Heavy.  I think that a glass obsessed person could collect just rose etches.  Unfortunately I haven’t gotten to this ‘place’ yet.

Floral

It took me along time to identify this etch.  I always think it’s kind of sad for a pattern when it doesn’t have a ‘real’ name, just an etch number.  This pattern looks like a closed poppy.  You can’t tell from the photo, but even the stem is fuzzy like a poppy stem.  There are a number of poppy etches however, and perhaps it was hard to come up with another name.  Tiffin had its Flanders etch (introduced in the 1920s) and then reintroduced as Alexandria (1979) and as St. Gallen (also 1979).  Fostoria also has its Poppy/Poupee etch, and there are likely others.  I have a couple of these glasses, and a couple dessert/sherberts.
