Hobnail, Shoe

I’d been wanting to buy a shoe or two, but found them more costly than I wanted to pay (less than $10). But when we were in the U.S this summer I found the boots and shoes to be a wee more reasonable in price.

I am struggling to recall where I bought this piece (and two others).  I can see the store in my mind and I have half a suspicion that it was in a shop in Oil City, PA.  All I know is that there is a label that says booth #614.

I don’t have any Fenton references.  Online though I see that this is called the Cat Shoe, a/k/a (perhaps) #3995.

I have no idea if these shoes had a purpose, or if they were just strictly decorative….but they are pretty.

Blackberry, Carnival. Berries, Compote

This is a pretty little thing.  I have had it for awhile but only identified it today.  I knew that it was recognizable and I didn’t want to post it until I had actually found it somewhere.  Don’t know how old it is though.

Check out David Doty’s Carnival Glass website.  Well indexed and you can easily find items through keyword searching.  According to this site, these miniature compotes came in a number of sizes and shapes.

It has  very pretty dark blue colour and can fit anywhere!

During my searches I came across this site – never had seen it before – What is Carnival Glass.com.  It is a site that has lots of potential.  Its goal is to “make the Most Complete Resource for Carnival Glass”.  Lots to see here.  Anyway…..the site says that known colors of this piece include: amethyst, blue, green, marigold and white.

Carnival Glass, Compote, Floral

I picked up this pretty marigold compote in Cobourg.  I’ve developed an appreciation for the colours of Carnival and want to add a few pieces to my collection.

The photo doesn’t really do the piece justice.  Hard to capture the intensity of the colour and the irridescence.
