Cambridge Glass Platter / Underplate with Etch 747 – Brettone

I was at the St. Jacobs Antiques Market a couple weeks ago when I came across a booth that had 85% off of everything!  Even though this piece had some scratches, it cost about $2.50 so I thought I’d pick it up just to have the fun of identifying the etch.  It is marked so I knew it was a piece by Cambridge.

Turns out it is etch #747 – Brettone.  It is a very large scale pattern.  This piece appears to be an under plate for something as the middle has the ridges that woul seem to be for a bowl of some sort.

I wouldn’t call it pretty, but it is interesting.

Off on vacation to New Orleans and points around today.  I know there are lots of antique shops in the ‘Big Easy’.  Looking forward to the time in the US.

I picked up these pretty blue pieces recently.  The colour is a light blue with some white slag features in the plates.

They are marked “Pyrex…Made in Canada” which didn’t mean alot to me.  But I found this excellent reference – Canadian Depression Glass by Walter Lemiski – that told me that these pieces were likely made in the 1940s.

They were marked Pyrex and made by the MacBeth-Evans division of Corning Glass Works in Toronto.pyrex-blue-bowls-2

The pattern is called Piecrust because the design resembles the fork marks on a pie crust (I think).

I love the delicate colour.

Indiana Glass Yellow and White Bowl – Line 602.5 – Moderne Classic Decorations

This bowl is a very pretty yellow and white with silver details.  I didn’t know anything about it when I picked it up other than it reminded me of a server I had with the same colours.  I knew that was a piece of Indiana so it wasn’t hard to track down some information.

The line number is 602.5 according to similar posts at the Elegant and Everyday Glass Forum.  I’ve not seen a line number with a decimal point before!  

I gather that the decoration is called Moderne Classic and is considered to have an Art Deco look.  From what I can tell this line of decorations comes in an number of colours and variations in design.

Dates back to the 1930s.
