Imperial Glass Candlewick Ice Tea Stem

I was struck by the all-over intricate etch of this glass.  I actually thought it was a vase!

It was produced in the 1940 by the Imperial Glass Company and is part of Imperial’s well-known Candlewick line – #3400.

Some helpful person from the Elegant and Everyday Glass Forum identified the etch as Rose of Sharon.  I have seen it online on other sites as Wild Rose.  I don’t have any Imperial resources, so can’t verify further myself.

Whatever it is, it is very pretty.

Isn’t this a beautiful piece?  This is a water goblet – Morgantown’s line #7654 with Lotus Glass’ etch #1011 – Fuchsia.

I was advised by a helpful person at the Elegant and Everyday Glass Forum that the stem is called ‘Lorna’.  I had seen it called ‘Reverse Twist’ by an author of a glass book.

Regardless of its name it’s such a lovely piece with a deep etch.
