My love affair with center handle servers lives on. I have an alarming number of these pieces and rarely, rarely use them. They are a pain to store as you can’t stack them. But…..this piece was too pretty to pass by.
I don’t know its age so am unsure if it is Peach-Blo or Dianthus Pink. My only definite piece of Peach-Blo isn’t as ‘pink’ as this piece, it’s more peachy. I will have to get off my lazy posterior and find an age for this server.

It’s been such a long time since I have posted on my blog that I can’t even recall where I bought this pretty piece. I have such a weakness for these center handle servers. I rarely use them or sell them and they are difficult to store, but they call out to me!
This one had such a pretty handle and such a rich colour that I couldn’t resist it.
Turns out that it was made by Paden City, likely in the 1930s. It has a cutting with foliage and a berry/flower (?) – name unknown.

I have said it before and nothing seems to have changed – I am fascinated by these servers! Don’t know why, perhaps they represent the ‘civilized’ times of having tiny sandwiches and pastries on the table.
In any event, I was in Florida recently and had a grand time wandering through thrift and antique stores. I picked up a number of pieces that I have not yet photographed, including a few unknowns.
The handle of this pretty piece grabbed my interest as I had never seen such a piece. I didn’t know what it was, but my handy dandy reference book – A Guide to Identification of Glass Center Handle Servers by Inez J. Austin – provided the name.
The name of the colour – Golden Sapphire is very pretty. It is actually a delicate tint, but looks different depending on the colour of the piece it is sitting on.
