Hobb Brockunier Flamingo Habitat Compote (4)I have long wanted a piece of glass with this acid etch.  I was almost seduced by a set of water goblets on ebay, but they were more than I wanted to pay.

We took a beautiful, early fall drive out to Orono and lo and behold I found this pretty piece at the Silly Sisters Antique Emporium.Hobb Brockunier Flamingo Habitat Compote (2)

Hobbs and Brockunier Glass was located in Wheeling, West Virginia.  This piece was introduced in 1880 and was in production until 1890.

The pattern was produced through the acid etching technique.  Very smooth surface.

I really like the stem – nice and solid.  Lovely piece.
