Hobnail LampIsn’t this cute?  We bought this a couple summers ago when visiting my mom in Fort Erie.

The most difficult task was to find a decent lamp shade with the piece that fits onto the bulb.  You can find them, but generally they are not in the greatest shape.

I bought this shade recently at a thrift shop.  It was the right shape and colour, but it was soiled.  I decided to throw it into the clothes washer on the delicate setting.  If I had a dishwasher I would definitely have used that.Hobnail Lamp (2)

In any event, the trim along the edges came out a little worn, but it cleaned right up.

I don’t know how old this lamp is and whether it fits the definition of milk glass…but I think this is cute.  I like the way it looks against the blue wall of my home office.

028My guy is my silent partner in the glass buying crime!  He pretends that he scorns my obsession, but either comes home with stuff that I like, or ‘makes’ me buy things about which I am dubious.

This is one of the items he ‘forced” me to acquire.  We were in Fort Erie, visiting my mom and doing the rounds of thrift shops.  He, although not to be admitted even under threat of torture, fell in love with this piece.  I was reluctant to buy it because now we have to find a shade that fits on the bulb, that looks appropriate and is in good shape.

I have to say that I don’t need to have a vintage shade as I don’t like yellowed stuff.

I haven’t even put a bulb in this lamp so don’t know if it works.  But…it is cute and maybe I’ll find a shade, and maybe I’ll find a place to put it some day.
