It has been months since I posted anything on this site.  Not for a lack of new acquisitions, simply a lack of time.  I have taken up some new hobbies that compete for my time and interest.

Nonetheless this site is still alive and I thought I would start to add some new (old) pieces.

Isn’t this vase pretty?  I picked it up somewhere in the USA.   I hadn’t previously seen this etch in the wild but had seen so many photos that I knew what it was immediately.

The blank is line three handled #1401 – Empress. The etch is #454.

Devil, French Glass, Gargoyle, Imperial Glass, Vase

I have bought so much glass over the last few months it has been quite alarming!  I almost think I am developing a glass addiction issue.  Ha ha!  That ship sailed a really long time ago.  But I have bought some items I have never had, along with a few that I have owned and lots in colour.  I finally have started taking some photos.

This interesting piece was acquired at the relatively new antique mart in Ajax – the Vintage Vendors.  I had never visited since its opening but found myself in Ajax last week.  What a great place!  I was very impressed.  It is nicely curated, clean and has a great variety of items, including a nice selection of glass.

I was sure that this was a piece of Portieux Vallerysthal (PV), name unknown.  I have subsequently found that Imperial glass made a piece that is similar or in fact exact.  It seems to have been called ‘Drama’ or ‘Devil and Roses’.  I don’t know its real name or line.  But since there is no Imperial mark on my vase I am assuming that it is the earlier piece by PV.

It is interesting with faces of gargoyles/devils on two sides and flowers on the other two sides.  I’d sure like to see it in PV’s other colours.

Imperial Glass Vase – Loganberry Pattern

Mid-Century Glass, Milk glass, Milkglass, Pressed Glass, Vase

Please find a pretty pressed ruffled edge milk glass vase manufactured by the Imperial Glass Company. It was likely manufactured between 1953-1971. This pressed piece is decorated with a ruffled edge, loganberries and leaves and is signed with Imperial’s mark.

I like it because it reminds me of my neighbour’s mulberry tree (yes I know they weren’t loganberries).  I don’t even know what loganberries are!  Anyway my neighbour had a tree and the neighbourhood kids spent a great deal of time in it picking and eating berries.  While the tree was cut down as there after a horrible accident, I still have fond memories of having a purple stained mouth and figures.

This all happened 50+ years ago.  So clear to me, although last week is a bit of a blur!
