Etched Glass, Plate Etched, Water Goblet

IMG_5486I can’t recall where I picked up these glasses – Around the Block perhaps.  I saw them and was convinced that they are Baccarat.  The etch is reminiscent of the Lafayette etch.  I thought it would be a breeze to identify the pieces.  Alas, it has not been.

Maybe I will Google image search the photo and see if I find a match.  I’ve not had good luck in the past with those searches.IMG_5490

If anyone knows, I would love a hint.  In the interim, they are beautiful pieces.

Corn Flower, Cornflower, Covered Jar, Etched Glass, Floral Etch

IMG_5643Found this cute little jar recently.  I don’t buy Corn flower often as it is so common in our area, but I liked the jar.

I haven’t been able to determine which company made the blank, but I like the total effect.  I haven’t put anything in it, but I think it will look pretty with white cotton puff balls in it.

Unknown Czech Decanter (1)Some time ago I was watching a piece on ebay that was very similar to this one.  I went back and forth on buying it.  For some reason I was really attracted to the photos.  In the end I didn’t buy it.  I didn’t need it, and I thought, from experience, that it would be difficult to eventually resell.

A few weeks ago I came across this set at Around the Block.  I was taken by the colour and gravitated to it right away.  While I still don’t need it, and I probably won’t be able to resell it eventually, I decided to buy it.  It wasn’t super expensive, it looks gorgeous and I can always gift it to someone.

The colour is very rich and the camera (a/k/a the photographer – me) doesn’t really do it justice.  This photo doesn’t show the richness of the red.  I took the close-up to give a better sense.  Still there is alot of ‘brown’ in the shade and I am sure that there is an appropriate name for this tint – cognac?  Maybe too brown.  Unknown Czech Decanter (2)

There is a label that says “Made in Czechoslovakia” but other than that, I likely will never know much about this pretty set.
