Maple Leaf Butter Dish (1)I don’t have a great deal of “Made in Canada” glass, but I couldn’t resist this at a local auction.

There were a number of Canadian companies that produced pressed glass with a Maple Leaf motif.  This neat piece even has a leaf on the finial.

This piece is likely over 100 years old.  Do you think it is called “ECPG” – Early Canadian Pressed Glass?  Doesn’t have the same ring as “EAPG” – Early American Pressed Glass.

Butter Dish, Cut

Cut Butter Dish (2)The last (for now) of my cut pieces.  I rarely use butter – we are margarine people.  But at holiday time I like to have butter.  I used to have a very pretty pinwheel dish that had belonged to my mother-in-law, but I gave it to my son.  He has an appreciation for fine glass and vintage ‘stuff’, although I seem to acquire “manly” things for him – clocks, radios, cameras.

I cannot remember where I acquired this piece, and I’m not even sure that the top and bottom are a match.  But…..I like them in any event.Cut Butter Dish

Butter Dish, Cheese Dish, Depression

It’s been ages since I’ve posted anything.  I simply ran out of things to write about.  I do have some odds and sods of glass and crystal around that I haven’t featured, but they are kind of ‘meh’.  Nothing to share.

At the same time I decided that I really have to stop buying stuff.  I am running out of room and I’m not even selling anything to make space.  It’s summer and I’d rather be in my garden!

Nonetheless we are off to Tennessee on a road trip this month and I plan to stop by the Heisey Museum in Newark, Ohio.  Looking forward to that!

I did pick this pretty little piece up at an auction on Friday.  My resolve to stick to a budget, and NOT buy things, went to heck, when I got this (actually I bought two) for $7.00 each.  I have some pieces of the Madrid, but not in the blue.  The blue seems less common, as does this piece.  I’ve seen it online as a butter OR cheese dish -who knows?

The blue is very summery and I have one stashed away on a white shelf, with a million of other pieces, and one decorating my pine box.

Pieces to augment the ‘blue’ collection.
