Luckily this has been identified by ‘someone in the know’ as Bohemia Crystal in the Etoile pattern.  Replacements also shows this stem in this blank – yippie!

I am pleased to have the mystery solved (March 23, 2015).

I have various pieces of this etch including a decanter.  In the replacements.com database the blank is different.  All of my pieces have this stem.008

This piece is likely a sherry glass or cordial.  It’s not my favourite pattern, but I guess it’s pretty enough.

006Happy Easter to those of you who observe it!

Aren’t these pretty? There was a Good Friday auction in Newtonville.  My son and I checked it out and then my guy went out to bid on thee stems for me.  They were marked THOS WEBB ENGLAND.  I’ve seen Webb Corbett stems listed for decent prices, so I thought – why not (if the price was right).

The price WAS, so they came home on the silver tray.  There are 6 little guys and 6 bigger items – liqueurs and sherries????  The pattern is called Regency.  004I read somewhere that the pattern has a Baluster stem.  They have a nice heft to them.

I show the photo with them all on the tray.  Looks pretty in the sunlight.

I bought these four stems awhile back in Waterloo I think.  I knew I’d come across the etch at some point and thought I’d figure it out some day.  Finally got my act together.

As it turns out, these beautiful plate-etched sherry or cordial glasses were produced by the Maryland Glass Company, of Cumberland, Maryland in the 1930s. They could be used for any ‘sipping’ beverage.

The glasses are a dainty 5 1/8 inches tall, with an opening of 1 7/8 inches.

The pattern consists of ribbon in a bow, flowers and a swag. There is a narrow optic which gives the glasses a reflective quality. Note the beautiful shape of the bowl.

I’ve read that Tiffin also produced this etch, but that the shape of the blank they used was different – the stem was straight.
