Crystal, European Crystal, Floral Cutting, German Crystal, Ice Tea, Meissen

I am not a big collector of European glass but these two pieces were too pretty to pass up.  Picked them up in Florida recently.

Meissen is famous for its long history of making items in porcelain.  I don’t know when they starting producing in crystal, but this manufacturing line would appear secondary to the porcelain.

These glasses are marked with the letter ‘M’ and one has a Meissen gold label on its base.

I have been advised that these are the ice teas, but they would look beautiful with any beverage.

Champagne Flute, Crystal

waterford-champage-millenium-2These two stems are not really my ‘thing’.  I picked them up at a Value Village and figured, once I saw the Waterford mark, that they would be identifiable.

Turns out that Waterford produced a series of these flutes with different toasting symbols.  On these stems there are five symbols, which I have read, are intended to signify happiness, love (the heart), prosperity (a wheat sheaf I think), health and peace (the dove).  I don’t understand the other symbols.

Very pretty for a wedding.

Animals in Glass, Crystal, Horse

Goebel HorseI think this is the last of the glass animals that I have kicking around.  My guy bought it home awhile back, likely from an auction.  He can’t come home empty handed!

It’s a cute little thing.  Satin, or frosted, horse sitting on a clear stand.  Marked Goebel, c1985.

The actual name of the company is Goebel Porzellanfabik and it is a German company.
