I think I finally ended up giving the creamer and sugar away.  Certainly couldn’t sell it.  Well, still been a good lesson for me.  I am now ruthless about looking for condition flaws.  Doesn’t mean I won’t buy something, but at least I know upfront if there is any damage.

Bought this set of candle holders in the Nerva line.  The scrollwork is very attractive.  Don’t know the name of the cutting.

Paden City NervaI learned, well…relearned…a lesson after buying these pieces at a local thrift shop.  DON’T BUY GLASS WITHOUT YOUR SPECTACLES!!!!!  Got home to find that someone has very carefully glued a broken foot back on the creamer.  Didn’t notice as I can’t see close-up any more and my glasses were well protected in my car!  Oh well.

This is Paden City’s Nerva line with silver overlay perhaps applied by Lotus.  Lots of pretty pieces in this line and some in red as well.

According to Glen & Stephen Thistlewood, authors of an online article ‘It’s Krys-Tol Clear!’ at https://www.carnivalglassworldwide.com/krys-tol-glass.html, Krys-Tol glass, dates back to 1905.

The Thistlewoods further state that initially Krys-Tol glassware was made at the Ohio Flint Glass Company, and then later at The Jefferson Glass Co. of Follansbee, West Virginia, from around 1908 to 1918. In 1918, the Krys-Tol line was produced by Central Glass.  I have no idea which company made this piece.

They also state that the glass was unusually brilliant (still is) allegedly due to high furnace temperature and a method of finishing and polishing the glass – and the trademark Krys-Tol was given to the range of glass made this way.

This pattern is actually named ‘Chippendale’.

This is a large sugar bowl that stands 4 inches tall without the lid.  It is 7 1/4 inches from one outside edge of the handle to the other. The opening is 3 3/4 inches. With the lid on the piece stands 7 5/8 inches to the top of the finial.  I have seen this piece referred to as a ‘Hotel Sugar Bowl’.  Makes sense I guess.

The Thistlewood article also reports that this line was very popular in the U.K.  I can see why, it IS an impressive looking piece.

Creamer, Cuttings, Hawkes, Sugar bowl

This is such a pretty set.  The cutting is lovely – I don’t think the photos do it justice.  I posted the set online somewhere and asked if anyone knew anything about the decoration.  Someone suggested that it could be a Hawkes’ cutting.

Here is an interesting online article about  T. G. Hawkes & Company by The House of Brilliant Glass.

The design by Thomas Clarence Heisey was patented in 1912.  The patent is shown in the Elegant and Everyday Glass Forum.
