I haven’t posted in a very long time.  Not because I haven’t acquired new stuff, but life has just gotten busy and the blog fell to the bottom of the priority list.

This piece deserves to be highlighted.

Over the years I have owned a number of pieces with ‘Willow’ etches, primarily from Fostoria.  Each time I sell a piece I wonder if I REALLY wanted to do that.  I have a large collection of blue and white porcelain willow dinnerware from different countries and manufacturers and time frames.  I mix and match them when having company and always have thought that the etched glass would be great to have on the table.  But I keep on selling it.

This is my first Cambridge ‘Willow’ #715 etch (on a mayonnaise dish).  Isn’t it gorgeous?

I picked up a pair of these 2 light candlestick holders locally.  I’d never seen anything quite like them and had to turn to Facebook (I think) for help IDing the pair.  Someone responded within minutes.

This interesting article about this pattern – Indiana Glass Company`s  Willow (aka) “Oleander” by Leonette A. Walls, Ed. D. Updated 12/03 – is a good read if you want to learn more.

Fostoria Willow (2)I’d seen this etch in books but not in real life.  It’s easy to remember and when I came across four of these sherberts/champagnes, in Virginia I think, I knew what they were.

The stem is Fostoria’s #6023 – Colfax and the etch is #335.  The stem is amazingly attractive – very solid.

I’ve read that the Willow etches, made by a number of companies, were produced to match the many sets of blue and white china that were popular back in the day.  Fostoria Willow (4)My daughter tells me that blue willow china is making a current resurgence in fact.  Even so, she doesn’t want these glasses!

I like their simplicity.
