Animals in Glass, Bookend, Lion

I am gathering that Viking made a few different glass lions.  This is my second.  I think it is min-century as well.

Doesn’t it have a great expression?  Kind of bored.

Gotta keep my eyes out for the rest.

Animals in Glass, Lion, Pressed Glass

I have gone on a bit of a buying spree recently and have added three ‘lions’ to my collection.  This one arrived first and did not disappoint!

I had seen this piece just once or twice online and then finally decided that I had to have him at a reasonable price from an ebay seller.

A seller on Etsy confirmed that this was a piece of Viking Glass.  She was selling the same piece, with the label, and was the original purchaser. She guessed she had purchased it in the ’70s or ’80s.

This is a heavy piece weighing in at 3 pounds.

I just love the pose – so relaxed!

1970s Glass, Lion, Paperweight, Pressed Glass, Sleeping Lion

I’d seen this piece a couple times and was unable to ID it.  It had been identified as a Gillinder lion, but I was doubtful, as it turned out – rightfully so.

I couldn’t resist it when I saw it at the right price.  I got an ID from an Etsy vendor who was selling the exact piece and advertising it as Viking made.  When questioned she said that she was the original owner and that it still had the original label on it.

According to her this is a 1970s piece.

I’ve seen it names online as ‘Sleeping Lion’ but I don’t know if this is a Viking name.

A great addition to my collection.
