Heisey Plantation Candle Holder (5)I was trolling Around the Block just before Christmas looking for some jadite mugs.  Didn’t find any, but came away with this pretty three lite candelabra.  I was pretty sure it was a piece of Heisey, which was verified by the “H in a diamond” mark.  However I kept referring to it as “Plantation” when in fact the piece of vegetation is not a pineapple, but is an acorn!

I gather researchers and collectors call the pattern “Tricorn”, but the name is actually “Triplex” and this is line #129.

The piece was made in a number of colours and in crystal with a different colour base.

White Old Decanter (6)I picked this piece up awhile back.  I assumed, because of its size, (the vessel stands almost 8 inches without the stopper) that it was a decanter.

I posted it, looking for an ID, and was advised that it might have served as a cologne/tonic container for a barbershop, back in the day.

It obviously had gilt on it as there are still remnants around the leaves.   I like the way that the stopper is also decorated.

I am guessing that this is late nineteenth, early twentieth century, but would love to be corrected.

Val St. Lambert Simplicity Small Glasses (1)Val St. Lambert Cristalleries of Belgium was founded by Messieurs Kemlin and Lelievre in 1825 and is still in operation. The company is the official glassware supplier to His Majesty King Albert II of Belgium.

I gather that they are well known for their cut and colourful table and decorative glassware.

I came across these pieces in Deseronto at Karen Brown’s Antiques & Collectibles.  I have water goblets and a decanter, but haven’t gotten around to the photos yet.

I have seen photos of this stem in cobalt cut to clear as well.

There is an interesting 2007 online article – How Do You Know It’s Val_Saint-Lambert? – that has some gorgeous photos of Val St. Lambert pieces and shots of lookalikes from other companies.

These are very attractive stems.
