Sometimes you see something online that just grabs you. I no longer buy compotes as they take up too much space and I don’t really use them. But this was online and the price was right and I was curious about it.
The Elegant and Everyday Glass Forum shows the patent for this piece, dated February 14, 1911. It was filed by Reuben Haley, an assignor for Westmoreland. I don’t know what the production dates were, but this piece was likely produced very early twentieth century.
It is a heavy, statuesque piece that has a real shine to it. I am showing lots of photos as I wanted to give a sense of its appearance. The photos don’t really do it justice.
