Cambridge Apple Blossom (1)Look at these very pretty goblets made by the Cambridge Glass Company.  These glasses are etched with the Apple Blossom plate etch (#744). The shape is line #3130.

The entire glass is shaded in Cambridge’s pale yellow which was called Gold Krystol.  It is a delicate shade.

I think these stems would compliment blue china with yellow and gold details.

001I bought this awhile ago, although I am not really sure why.  It isn’t something that I use, or really something that interests me.  Plus it takes up a bunch of space!

Having said that.  It is interesting how Heisey designed the stopper to fit into a strainer.  I guess so the ice and fruit weren’t poured out of the shaker.

I have seen these pieces with etches on them, but this one is plain.

The shape is #4225 – Cobel line (1 quart shaker).

Dorflinger DecanterI still have these pieces.  In fact here is a photo of a decanter that I bought and sold with this pattern (I loved the stopper, hollow with the dainty etch on it).  Until recently, they remained unnamed.  However I came across these punch cups on Etsy and took the opportunity to ask the seller if s/he knew anything about this pattern

As it turns out the pattern is acid etched.  Older pieces – 1908-1918.  It is called Lotus and was produced by Dorflinger Glass.  On Replacements.com they identify a water goblet as part of Kalana line.  But my stem has a bit of a bead on it, unlike the Replacements.com stem so I don’t know if it is from the same line.

I don’t know anything about Dorflinger Glass, but here is a link to the Dorflinger Glass Museum page.

I was in Orono this past weekend and the four stems are still there.  Now that I know what they are, I might have to have another, more serious peek at them.

Original post April 18, 2012

This glass is driving me crazy!  A year or so ago I saw wine stems in this pattern in Orono.  They were costly so I didn’t buy them.  I saw two of these at the Courtice flea market recently.  They were $7.00 so I thought I’d get them.

I thought that I had seen this pattern in a book.  So…..I poured over all my books and found, what I thought was this pattern.  It is Bryce Brothers, Etch 410, also known as Tall Fans, Thistle or Asparagus.  This is what I remembered.  But unfortunately it is close but not quite bang on.  Dang!  So the mystery is on…what is this etch?
