Glass on the Christmas Table

Heisey Belle Le RoseI sincerely hope that anyone reading this post had the most wonderful, peaceful, happy, filled-with-family, Christmas (if this is what you celebrate).  I know I did.

Earlier in the year I bought some Heisey Belle-le-Rose water goblets to keep as ‘my set’.  They finally graced the table last night.  Safely back in the cupboard now of course.

They did the trick, and were as beautiful one the table as I thought they would be.

Duncan Miller Citron 115 Candle HoldersOn the weekend I stopped in at Under the Toadstool.  I was looking for some Christmas inspiration, and a ‘bunny’ gift.  Had a nice chat with the ladies there and one of them asked me if I knew who had made these holders.

The colour and the clarity of the glass grabbed my attention, so of course I had to buy them!

I thought they might be Fostoria, but turns out that they were from Duncan and Miller’s Canterbury (#115) line.  I saw these pieces numbered as 115-2 and 115-122, but I can’t verify either.

The are a bright colour.  In my ignorance of shades I would have called them limeish-yellow!

Nice pieces…..and luckily I got the ‘bunny’ gift too!

Cambridge Statuesque Farberware Compote (2)I used to own a Cambridge Crown Tuscan Compote with the sea shell bowl and the nude statuesque lady stem.  I’ve recently bought cocktail glasses, and I am excited to see them arrive.

The stand of this piece is chromium.  It was made by Farbers Bros. of New York, between 1939-1955.  The stem closely resembles the work of Cambridge and its statuesque line.  Farber Bros’ chrome line was called Krome-Kraft.  A key feature of the Krome-Kraft line was the patented snap-in/snap-off feature of the inserts.  They all come out.  I am guessing htis was to clean the glass without getting the chrome wet all the time.

The glass insert was made by Cambridge Glass Company of Cambridge, Ohio.

I don’t know anything about Art Deco, but this reminds me of a piece of that design (don’t really know why).

Interesting piece.
