069Picked up this 10 inch fruit bowl recently.  Nice beaded edging. Pretty – matches the platter.

I have other clear Iris pieces, but this is the first in the iridescent.  Very pretty.  The irises have a bluish-purple cast to them in the light.  This is a 12 inch sandwich plate.  I have just picked it up and haven’t used it yet.  But…I think it will be pretty used outside on the deck when the weather gets nice.   I have a Fire King marigold cup and saucer, but no other iridescent pieces (yet).  I think the iris glasses would also be pretty in the iridescent.  I’ll have to keep my eyes open.

008Last year when we were travelling through down to Tennessee I noticed that I saw alot of glassware by Fenton.  When you travel around southern Ontario you run into alot of Cornflower.  When we were in the Niagara area last weekend I saw lots of different pieces of Iris.  And somewhere (can’t recall where) I recall seeing alot of hobnail.  Must be regional preferences , for some reason.  Particularly if a town or city is close to the original manufacturer.

In any event we were in this tiny little thrift shop in the Tonawanda area.  My guy picked up a cane, helped the clerk fix her debit reader and I bought a few things, including this bowl.  I have other pieces of Iris.  Trying to remember where I put my pitcher and tumblers!

I like the Carnival amber colours better.  I only have the tray in that colour.  Saw a pretty sugar and creamer, but they were a little costly.  Someday maybe!

Floragold BowlI’ve had this bowl kicking around for some time.  It is a pretty common piece and you run into the bowls and the creamer/sugar and the salt and peppers relatively often.

There are many other pieces in this pattern.  Judging from the prices of them at Floragold Bowl (5)Replacements.com, many of them are relatively rare.  I’m going to have to keep my eyes open for them!

The colours are pretty.  The iridesence is pink, purple, with a wee bit of green.  The pattern is composed of flowers and boughs of leaves.  Very fresh!
