I picked up a number of pieces with this etch on the weekend at an auction. I got these items, a relish dish and a footed cake salver. I was bidding on a large bowl, but let it get away from me. Took awhile to identify, although I read that this is one of Cambridge’s most popular patterns. It’s very pretty, with wee, little dainty flowers.

Yesterday I was in Cobourg, coming home from an auction in Brighton. We stopped for lunch at Meet at 66 King West (great place) which is conveniently attached to an antique shop. We browsed, and oddly enough I didn’t buy anything but I saw a couple vases that were interesting. Flash forward to today….I am trying to identify an etch and am perusing my books. Came across similar vases to those of yesterday. The book image is of Fenton Hand Vase #38. Produced 1942-1943. They look like they sound – a hand holding a vase. Ran a search and came across this interesting site – www.theglassmuseum.com/glasshandvases.htm. Lots of information in this article, and on the site in general. I think I’m going to make a page with links to specific glass objects. While I tend to focus on beverage stems, there are many, many other items that folks collect.

I bought a number of these Depression pieces at an auction. They are irridescent. Solid, sherbert, dessert stems. I like the way the colour shimmers, but I have to admit that they don’t move me. Nonetheless, the fact that they have survived for 70+ years is most impressive. I likely will put these up for sale (some day).
