While I generally no longer pick up anything with the Corn Flower decoration, I couldn’t resist this pair of candle holders. I saw them in this neat antique store – Funk & Gruven A-Z – in Belleville.
They are from Paden City’s line #900, although they are referred to as “Comet”, Paden City’s line #777. I guess the comet-like head and tail gave rise to the nickname. I saw the shape also referred to as “comma” like as well.
They are nice and solid and quite lovely.

This is a very large salad or chip bowl. I’ve never seen one this shape or size with the Corn Flower decoration.
I don’t know if it is really a Hughes piece or whether the blank is European or Canadian. I am going to have to post it and ask someone. I couldn’t find the piece in either or my Corn Flower books.
I like the very linear sides. Interesting piece.

It has been awhile since I have posted on this blog. Not for lack of interest or acquisitions. But….summer travel and gardening makes me want to me outdoors.
Thought I’d put my nose to the grindstone (a/k/a laptop) and try to post some recent purchases.
………I don’t know why I keep buying pieces with the Corn Flower cutting. I have many – don’t use them and don’t sell them. They are very common in my part of Canada. But…..
This piece is a nice solid piece of pressed glass.
