Duncan Miller Citron 115 Candle HoldersOn the weekend I stopped in at Under the Toadstool.  I was looking for some Christmas inspiration, and a ‘bunny’ gift.  Had a nice chat with the ladies there and one of them asked me if I knew who had made these holders.

The colour and the clarity of the glass grabbed my attention, so of course I had to buy them!

I thought they might be Fostoria, but turns out that they were from Duncan and Miller’s Canterbury (#115) line.  I saw these pieces numbered as 115-2 and 115-122, but I can’t verify either.

The are a bright colour.  In my ignorance of shades I would have called them limeish-yellow!

Nice pieces…..and luckily I got the ‘bunny’ gift too!

This pretty pattern is called Indian Tree.  Don’t know why.  I have a water goblet in the etch that my sister-in-law Mary-belle gave me for my birthday one year.  Her wonderful mother was my glasspiration (ha ha) and I very much appreciated the continued family support.  I don’t use these – bought to resell some day.  I also collect china creamers and sugars and have quite a number of other sets that I don’t use!  That’s a whole other blog.

This is a liquor cocktail glass with an etch called First Love.  The maker was Duncan & Miller from Pennsylvania.  The etch was in production from 1935-1955.  I have stared at this a bazillion times and have tried to figure out what the pattern has to do with one’s first sweetheart.  The stem is interesting, but actually too ornate for my liking.  I don’t think I have any other Duncan & Miller stems.  Don’t know why.  Check out The National Duncan Glass Society at www.duncanmiller.net if this stem appeals to you.
