Unknown Green Satin Compote with Gold Etched Rim

On my Friday rambles I picked this up at a St. Vincent de Paul’s.  It was priced at $3.00 but my guy had to bargain it down to $2.00.  I am way too skitterish about doing this, but of course it’s always to my advantage!

I don’t know if this is old or not.  It’s really not even all that appealing to me. I’m not a fan of satin/frosted glass.  It was the etch around the rim that caught my eye.

I still haven’t had any luck matching anything – shape or etch, but will hang on to it for awhile (if I can find a place to put it!)

I no longer have these stems.  I gave them to one of my daughters some time ago.  They were among the first items I bought when I started buying in bulk!

I don’t have any recall where I got them, but I was drawn to them because of the lattice work.  I never was able to identify them.  Fostoria has a lattice etch, but nothing like this.

Likely to always remain a mystery!

When I saw this at the thrift shop I assumed it was a piece of Fire King.  I couldn’t get a good photo of the marking, but it is the letter “F” in a shield and the words “HEAT PROOF” and “U.S.A”.

It wasn’t until I was poking around the usual cast of sources for an identification that I discovered that it was made by Federal Glass, likely in the 940s/1950s.  Seems to be lots of pieces available for purchase.

Don’t know where this will end up, but I only paid 25 cents for it.  It may go back to thrift shop!
