Last weekend my guy and I spent a few nights in the Niagara area. being the great partner he is, we hit all the thrift shops in St. Catharines, Niagara Falls, Beamsville and Burlington. Then we hit them on the way home in Oshawa and Bowmanville.
This all seemed fun until I had to unpack and wash everything up!
Lots of new treasures to report on. I’d be happy just to find space for them actually!
Isn’t this piece pretty? The colour is very attractive. Not too ‘orangey’ at all, but quite spectacular. I gather Fenton made these pieces between 1967 and 1974. This piece isn’t signed.

Because Hughes was a Canadian company you see alot of Cornflower in our area. When I was a young teen I actually started collecting pieces that you could buy from a local jeweler in my small hometown. They have long disappeared.
I have picked up various pieces of Cornflower over the years in no organized manner. Last month when I was at the Corning Museum I bought the book Elegant glass with Corn Flower: Imperial Candlewick, Heisey, Tiffin & more by Walter T. Lemiski.
I’ve been trying to identify the blanks of the pieces that I have. I haven’t had a great deal of luck as my pieces are primarily stemware and pretty non-descript.
But, the author has included sections on different coloured Cornflower. My, my they are gorgeous! These pieces are not commonly seen, but I will be on the lookout. I have pink Tiffin stemware, but that’s it for coloured pieces.
i recommend this book as a great reference.
