There are so many needle etches and they are so difficult to identify. This looks remarkably like Bryce Brothers Dowager’s Necklace pattern. Lots of common elements, but the illustrations I have seen, do not match this etch 100%.
I wouldn’t be surprised to find that this is a Bryce etch. In fact, I am going to call it that, in my mind. Regardless, it was likely produced in the early twentieth century.
Although I am not much a fancier of the squiggly needle etches, I do like the shape of the blank. There is a fairly wide optic, and a nice flare to the bowl. I also like the ‘bally’ thing on the stem itself. one of the squiggles kind of looks like the Lady Hamilton pattern of some of the Pall Mall glasses.
It would be nice to identify this for sure. Ideas, anyone?
