I love it when I can go back and repeat a posting with a creditable identification. I was browsing ebay, checking out Moser glass. I went from Moser to Lobmeyer to Baccarat. As I was scrolling through Baccarat listings, I saw THIS, THIS, THIS! It is a Baccarat piece that is over 100 years old! Discontinued in 1900. I am so pleased to have determined its provenance.
A couple weeks ago we were in Waterloo for the weekend. We always make a point of heading to the thrift shops of any town that we visit. I came across two of these sherberts. They are very, very striking. I’ve not seen this etch anywhere – no sense of familiarity at all. I’ve tried to take photos at a few different angles in order to capture the etch at the bottom of the glass, as well as the pattern along the rim. The rim etch is quite lovely as well. Initially I thought that they might be Fostoria’s Chateau etch – but no luck. I would love to have these identified.
I have taken to leaving the price tags on pieces. I am terrible at keeping good records on the items that I own. Having this blog has helped me to keep a photographic record, but I am terrible at keeping the details on the prices. When I sell anything I never intend to make a pile of profit. However….I don’t want to lose money either. I definitely will know that I paid two dollars for these two gorgeous pieces.
