Spread the love

Still wandering around the southern U.S.  Today we stopped in a few little Kentucky  towns.  We’ve visited quite a few flea markets, consignment shops, antique stores and thrift shops.  It is interesting to see how items are priced relative to the locations/states and relative to our own prices.

For example….I find the Depression glass surprisingly expensive.  We’ve run into a great deal of Fenton glass, much more than I’ve ever seen at home.  hens on nests can be found more cheaply than at home, but not always.  I now own two more amber hens, a green one and a white one.  All less than $12.  One was $4 but has a wee chip.

Anyway….I haven’t photographed any pieces, but will once we get settled back home.  Tonight we are in a town called Georgetown in Kentucky.  We had dinner at a great restaurant named Fava’s – everything is home made and fresh.  The catfish was superb!  They make a pie called Almond Joy (like the chocolate bar).  I still am having a sugar rush!  The main street boasts 2-3 antique stores so that will be the first order of business before we head out of state to Ohio.

Vacationing is great, but tiring.  I have not found as many pieces that I wanted to buy as I thought I would.  Very few pieces of etched stemware.  Oh well.  Despite that (tee hee) it’s been a good trip.
