I gather that a number of companies made powder jars with a variety of animals on the lids.  I have seen, in person/’live’ Scottie dogs and lots of deer in pink and in this iridescent marigold.  I’ve seen elephants and ducks in books.  I have to admit to coveting the ownership of one and I have had my eye on a Scottie dog lid, but someone bought it from under me!  Picked this one up at auction recently.  I think it’s cute as a button and it is sitting on a table, keeping me company, next to me in my little office.   Replacements.com states that the Jeannette animals were discontinued in 1920.  That surprises me.  I have seen them frequently and assumed that they were later productions.  Doesn’t matter, I like my little poodle regardless of its age.
