Bryce # 325-4 (3)I am pretty sure that I have owned this stem with some other decoration.  In any event I recognized it as Bryce when I saw these in the Pick n Save (if that’s the correct name) in Luray, Virginia.

I have subsequently found the pattern on Replacements.com, but they have not provided any information other than they are calling the etch/cutting pattern #325-4. Bryce # 325-4

I wonder if the tumbler is also part of the #325 line.  I looked through all the Bryce shapes at the Elegant and Everyday Glass Forum, and through Replacements, but didn’t find the exact tumbler.  I’ve posted the query, but no response yet.

Older pieces, early twentieth century I am guessing.

Hughes Cornflower Centre Handled DishI have sworn a million times that I am not going to buy any more Corn Flower, unless it is a coloured piece.  However, pieces keep following me home!

This weekend we took a trip down to the Niagara area.  Picked up a few pieces here and there.  Stopped in at Around the Block in Toronto.  What a great place!  They have a nice variety of good quality items of all kinds.  Very clean and bright and nicely arranged.  Definitely worth a visit.

This is a consignment shop with a difference.  Every month the prices of items decrease by 10%.  The price drops are shown right on the tags.  I bought this Hughes/Imperial plate and another dish which I will showcase soon.  Oh yes…a glass too.

The trouble with these center handled pieces is that they are large and correspondingly, more of a pain to store!  But….it is pretty, isn’t it?

Unknown Cornflower 1Ever since I bought my 2nd book on Cornflower, by Walt Lemiski, I’ve paid more attention to the pieces that I see.  I like to look them up in my books when I come home to see if I can find the blanks that the piece was cut on.

I recently picked up two pieces that were unknown to me and thought I’d try to ID them.  This goblet is very beautiful (the photo doesn’t do it justice). It has a gorgeous bowl and a different, twisted stem.  I’ve not seen this piece before.  I could not find a match for it so I posted it on the Everyday and Elegant Glass Forum.

I was fortunate to have Mr. Lemiski comment on the piece.  He indicated that he suspects that the goblet may be a post 1960 piece,  European in origin — perhaps Czech or Hungarian.  In fact he thinks that there may be doubt whether the first it is in fact a Hughes Cornflower item.

If this is the case I may never see a matching piece.  Too bad, as it would make a very pretty set.
