Indiana Diamond Point PitcherYet another update…….During my recent travels to Niagara I picked up this 52 ounce pitcher.  I have recently discovered an interest in pitchers.  This one is very heavy.  Unfortunately I neglected to find the flake/chip on the inside rim.  How I missed it, I don’t know.  If I can rediscover the location of the goblets, this will still make a nice Sangria set for someone!

I just bought this marvelous resource – a CD-ROM of Indiana Glass Patterns by Donna Adler.  A huge amount of information on this disk.  I learned a little more about this pattern.  First the name – I thought it was simply amber Diamond Point.  But the addition of the gold band gave it a different name.  According to Ms. Adler the pattern was introduced in 1965.  She says that it was one of Indiana’s most popular patterns and that the ruby band was likely the most popular of its many colours.  Interesting!

Very common.  Not so dainty, but attractive in its own right.  I bought 4 wine glasses at a local flea market.  They are not my usual ‘thing’ but the gold flashing was unblemished and very shiny.  Appealed to the magpie in me.  I don’t know much about these.  Made in the U.S.  I’ve read that they were introduced in the mid-1960s and produced until the ’80s.  Pretty common in a variety of colours.  I think the amber is very manly.
