Mere's Green SwanMy mother loves glass images of swans and has a collection of a number of very pretty items.  This one (posted some time ago) is my unidentified  favourite.  The photo doesn’t do it justice.

Unfortunately it took a fall and a wing broke off.  My mom repaired it and it displays beautifully.

I have added to her collection on and off over the years.  This weekend we were visiting her and I took this Westmoreland piece.  Westmoreland SwansI wondered if she would accept it as she has sworn, many times, that she is DONE, DONE, DONE, collecting swans.

Alas…it did not make the trip home with us and I assume has been allocated a space.

It is a pretty little item – three swan heads decorate its sides.

Kovar’s Westmoreland Glass: 1950-1984 assigns the use and indicates that this piece was made in many colours.

She also identifies that this was also reproduced in milk glass, along with other colours.   Nonetheless I am going to assume it is Westmoreland, despite a lack of mark.

White Old Decanter (6)I picked this piece up awhile back.  I assumed, because of its size, (the vessel stands almost 8 inches without the stopper) that it was a decanter.

I posted it, looking for an ID, and was advised that it might have served as a cologne/tonic container for a barbershop, back in the day.

It obviously had gilt on it as there are still remnants around the leaves.   I like the way that the stopper is also decorated.

I am guessing that this is late nineteenth, early twentieth century, but would love to be corrected.

IMG_4749This is a pretty neat milk glass piece to live in the home of a couple of Leos!  I have not found this in a book, but have seen it identified online as an early 20th century piece of Westmoreland.

My piece is not signed, but has a number “3” in the basket.

It is quite white.  I find it hard to take photos of milk glass, so had to have it ‘shadowed’.  It was obviously painted, but most of the paint is gone.

I love the sly smile.  Do you think real lions lounge around with this expression???????
