Bowl, Empress, Mayonnaise Dish, Silver Overlay

Heisey Empress with Silver Overlay (4)I picked this piece up in Florida (I think).  For some reason I thought it was a piece of New Martinsville Line #4200 Radiance.  But of course it is Heisey’s Empress blank.

This is what Neila Bredehoft said in her book The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Heisey Glass 1925-1938:

“Dates:  1930-1938

Colors:  Moongleam, flamingo, sahara, alexandrite, tangerine, cobalt, marigold

Widely used for Heisey etches and cuttings”

Interesting comment – “Early Heisey ads also referred to it as “Lilies of France” pattern”

This piece is the 5 1/2 inch mayonnaise bowl.  Notice the dolphin feet.

The silver overlay is very pretty.Heisey Empress with Silver Overlay (3)

Unknown Pink Bowl (2)My guy brought this home for me.  I guess it is attractive inits own way, but it doesn’t do a thing for me.

I don’t know if it is old or not.  I posted it on a Facebook site that I belong to and asked if it was recognized.  Someone suggested that it was made by Walther Glass of Germany and was a pattern called Belvedere.Unknown Pink Bowl (3)

I found the Belvedere pattern, but it doesn’t look to be a match.  In the absence of much response I think it is likely relatively modern.  Although there are some nice details, I think it will find a home at the local thrift shop, or with a neighbour who likes pink glass.

Bowl, Coloured Glass, Fire King, Green Glass, Jadeite, Jadite

Fire King Jadeite BowlI picked up this little bowl somewhere.  It is intended to travel out to British Columbia when I go visit my daughter.  I bought her a piece of Mckee awhile back and thought she would like this little bowl.

I don’t know anything about jadeite pieces.  I do know that there are alot of reproductions on the market.  I have no reference texts to validate any pieces.

It is marked with Fire King’s mid to late 1950s mark, according to this ebay article – Buying Fire King Jeannette Jadite Jadeite.  Fire KIng Jadeite Bowl 2I don’t know if marks have been reproduced or not.  So…its origin remains unknown.

In any event, I paid less than $5.00 for this little bowl, my daughter will love it regardless, so it doesn’t really matter.
