Blue Glass, Center Handle Server, Coloured Glass, Dessert Tray, Floral Etch, Lancaster, Sandwich Plate, Westmoreland
I know that I always say that a piece is particularly attractive. Broken record! But…..this piece IS particularly appealing. It’s not breathtakingly beautiful, nor is it unique. But, there is just ‘something’ about this server.
I think it might be the shade of blue which highlights the floral etches that makes it stand out.
I posted this online for an ID. I didn’t receive much feedback – some comment that it might be a Westmoreland piece.
I took a peek at the website of the National Westmoreland Glass Collectors Club to see if I could find a match. I did not, but I did find a link that allows you to seek a glass ID. What a wonderful service – very prompt. This is what I was told:
“I believe the server blank was made by Lancaster Glass Company and not Westmoreland because Westmoreland never made a server with the straight handle. Westmoreland’s servers always had a slight curve. If you check the 1929 sales catalogue in the album section of the page you will can locate what the Westmoreland server looked like. ”
How great was that? Very accommodating customer service.
I only have one Lancaster text, and couldn’t find it in there. So…..this pretty piece has to remain an unknown for now.
