Unknown Needle Etch on a Sherbert (I think)

009I found this glass last weekend.  It doesn’t grab me, but I always like trying to identify an unknown pattern.

However I remain stumped.  I’ve not seen anything like it. 010 I really only brought it home because the shape intrigued me.  It has a wee bit of curvature at the base of the bowl.  Interesting.

If anyone recognizes the etch, HELP!!!!

Red Vase 1

UPDATE March 11, 2013 – Found a similar Green Vasevase in green today.  The swirling optic doesn’t have the same crisscross pattern.  Only twists one way.

Haven’t yet found the name.  I’m pretty sure that Ruby Red doesn’t apply.  Now I have a Christmas coloured pair.  I’ll keep looking for the name.

UPDATE – I was scrolling through replacements.com looking for some information.  I came across this exact vase!!!  Yippie!!!

Turns out that this is a piece of Anchor Hocking’s Royal Ruby line.  Replacements has this listed as 1938-.  This is a flower vase (no surprise) with a swirled interior.

Always great to ID something. _________________________________

Since Christmas I have been trying to clean house a bit.  I have been unloading items that we never use or of which we have excess.  This includes vases.  I took them to work and they were promptly claimed – that’s very pleasing that they now have good, new homes.

However…I picked this piece up over the holidays and certainly couldn’t part with it.  I don’t know if it is old….but it is gorgeous.  A beautiful rich ruby red.  The interesting part is that the optic is on the inside.  It looks like a diamond pattern in the photo , but it really is more of a spiral as you can see in the 2nd photo.  Red Vase 2The effect is interesting.  I think it is very attractive.  Right now I have it on a windowsill waiting for some sunshine to shine through it.

Libbey Blue Juice GlassesOne of my daughters has a fondness for blue and white glass and china.  She loves the vintage (all my kids too, wise children) and uses vintage white and turquoise Fire King plates which she got for Christmas one year.

She resists my offer of glass, but expressed some interest in the Libbey juice glasses that I have, in brown and gold (below).  Said she, “Do they have them in blue?”  Well they do.  I found them today.  I love having something to legitimately look out for!Libbey Floral Tumblers 3

Unfortunately I only found two.  Now I have to look out for more in this pattern.  I am going to mail them to her, so that she doesn’t ‘accidentally’ leave them here next time she visits.

They have the Libbey cursive ‘L’ mark.  Cute little things.  If she gets rid of them, I’ll never know and will remain blissfully ignorant, thinking she is using them with love!
