It is so handy when a piece has a maker’s mark.  Nice to see Dominion’s (of Montreal) cursive “D’ on the bottom of these tumblers.  There are a number of  variations of the “Scotty Dogs” tumblers made, in the ’40s and ’50s, by companies such as Hazel-Atlas, Federal, Libbey, Bartlett-Collins, etc. and it is difficult to pinpoint which company made which pattern.

The Scotty lines were barware for the most part – tumblers, pitchers, ashtrays, mugs and ice tubs, although Hazel-Atlas made a Scotty baby bottle.

I gather that tumblers such as these, with red checkerboard designs, are referred to as “Purina” style (don’t know why).  Maybe Purina dogfood bags have/had this design.

I like these glasses.  These little pups are frisky and cheerful looking!
