Cristal D'Arque - Rosaline (1)You see these swirling pink glasses, bowls, plates, tumblers, etc. frequently.  My husband picked up a number of these pieces at a going-out-of-business sale.  This is the 3 7/8 inch cordial.

According to an entry on Wikipedia, Cristal d’Arques is a brand of Arc International, a privately held, by the Durand family, company in France.  According to the article, Arc international is the leading international manufacturer of glass and crystal.  Other frequently seen brands include Luminarc and Arcoroc.

I don’t believe that this pattern is in production any longer, and I am guessing this stem has a 1970s/1980s date.

Pink Center Handled Server with Unknown (to me) Etching

Center Handle Server, Coloured Glass, Etched Glass, Pink Glass

IMG_4416Picked this piece up at Around the Block (if you live in Toronto, this place is worth a look).  It is a pretty pink with gilted etching.

I thought it would be easy to identify.  I checked the gallery of a favoured site – the Everyday Glass Forum – to see if I could find it.  I found the etch to be an unknown, although reference was made Lotus etches 890 and 891 being similiar.

The blank itself closely resembles a Mckee line – #151.IMG_4403

I have a few servers.  I find the differences in the shapes to be interesting – the handles show so many variations.  Then you have the colours, the size, the shape.  Seemingly alike, but not really.

This piece went to a colleague who makes the most superb cupcakes and who loves pink.  I think it will look pretty on her table.

Pink Corn Flower Bowl (2)When the weather is nice, the garden beckons.  It is hard to want to stay in and take photos of pieces of glass, regardless of their beauty.  It rained today so I am trying to get caught up a bit.

A two week road trip only resulted in two purchases of glass.  You just don’t see the pieces that I was seeking in Canada.  Lots of beautiful furniture in Quebec and the Maritimes and lots of pressed Canadian glass, but not much of the American plate etched pieces that I admire.

I bought this pretty comport in Toronto awhile back.  It is featured in Walter T. Lemiski’s book – Elegant Glass with Corn Flower (page 56).  It is the 8 1/2 inch comport and stands 4 5/8 inches tall.  No idea which company made the blank.  If anyone knows – please share!
