This covered sugar bowl is from the Yeoman line, which I gather consists of a number of lines – 1184, 1185, 1187, and 1189. This is line #1184 (I think). I gather this line came in a diamond optic or plain, as is this piece. In the book The Collector’s Encyclopedia of Heisey Glass, 1925-1938 by Neila Bredehoft, the pattern is identified and explained by:
“Several items in the line were originally listed as Pattern # 1182 (mainly those available in hawthorne). Yeoman seems to be a catch-all pattern of simple designs for tableware. Usually numbers up to #1189 are considered to be part of Yeoman.” I don’t really know the logic behind this name, but Ms. Bredehoft indicates that the Yeoman name was use din later years – production dates – 1913-1957.
This is pretty colour. This is in Heisey’s Hawthorne – a dark pink/lavendar shade. Very pretty. The pattern came in moongleam (green), flamingo (pink), marigold (bright yellow) and sahara (a different yellow).
